Ingredients

For the pie
  • 1 piece pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
For the brownie filling
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • optional chocolate chips or nuts for added texture

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Place your pre-made pie crust into a pie dish, crimping the edges as desired. Set it aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until smooth. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.
  4. Sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. If desired, fold in chocolate chips or nuts for an extra crunch.
  6. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pie crust, smoothing out the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly gooey.
Serving
  1. Allow the pie to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm, plain, or topped with your favorite toppings.

Notes

To enhance your dessert, pair it with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Keep an eye on baking time to maintain the gooey center, and consider adding espresso powder for richer flavors. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
