Ingredients

Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use room temperature butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Color and Chocolate Chips
  • 4-5 drops blue food coloring Adjust for desired color
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the blue food coloring until the dough reaches your desired level of blue happiness.
  7. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips to ensure they’re evenly distributed.
  8. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop generous tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges become slightly golden. The centers will look a bit soft – this is perfect!
  2. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 week. Cookies can also be frozen for up to 3 months.
