Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb chicken thighs Cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Ensure it's halal.
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For cooking.
  • 2 green onions chopped For garnish.
  • Sesame seeds For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting your chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
Marinating
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan, spreading them out evenly.
  3. Allow the chicken to sear without stirring for about 4-5 minutes until it develops a golden-brown crust.
  4. Stir occasionally and continue to cook for an additional 5-7 minutes or until the chicken is fully cooked (internal temperature should be 165°F or 75°C).
Garnishing and Serving
  1. Once cooked, remove the pan from heat. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
  2. Serve hot over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

For best flavor, avoid crowding the pan while searing. Adjust marinade sweetness/spice to preference. If not using gochujang, a mix of red chili flakes and molasses can be a substitute.
