Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
- Mix in one large egg and one teaspoon of vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually stir in one cup of all-purpose flour until smooth.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Baking
- Pour the cherry pie filling over the batter evenly.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Glazing and Serving
- While the bars are cooling, whisk together one cup of powdered sugar, two tablespoons of milk, and half a teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
- Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top of the bars.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. For extra flavor, consider using almond extract.
