Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg beaten egg For egg wash
For the filling
  • 1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Can substitute with any fruits or pie fillings
  • 1/4 cup berry jam Any berry jam can be used
  • Powdered sugar for icing For dusting before serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and sugar. Drop in the softened butter, and mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the milk until the mixture comes together into a dough.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll out half of the dough into a large rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Spread the berry jam evenly over half of the rolled-out dough and top with mixed berries, ensuring enough space at the edges to seal the pastry.
  6. Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the filled half. Pinch the edges together to seal and create a decorative edge with a fork.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar. Serve warm and enjoy!
