Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the German chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined, making sure there are no lumps.
Baking
- Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Poking and Adding Milk
- Once out of the oven, let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.
- Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the top of the cake, spaced about 1 inch apart.
- Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top, making sure it seeps into the holes. Then, drizzle the chocolate syrup evenly on top.
Cooling and Decorating
- Allow the cake to cool completely.
- Frost the cake with whipped topping.
- Sprinkle the shredded coconut and chopped pecans generously on top.
Serving
- Cut into squares and enjoy your delicious German Chocolate Poke Cake!
Notes
Consider using low-fat whipped topping for a lighter version. Ensure the cake cools completely before adding toppings to maintain texture.
