Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined Use fresh for best flavor.
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Adjust according to taste.
  • ½ cup dry white wine (or chicken broth) Use a quality wine.
  • 1 lemon Juice of 1 lemon
  • to taste Salt and freshly ground black pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.
  • 8 ounces linguine or spaghetti (optional for serving) Cook according to package instructions.

Method

Preparation
  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water if needed and pat them dry. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. If serving with pasta, cook it according to package instructions and reserve some pasta water before draining.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are pink and opaque.
  3. Pour in the white wine (or chicken broth) and lemon juice. Let it simmer for another 2 minutes to allow the flavors to combine and the sauce to slightly reduce.
  4. If using pasta, add it to the skillet along with a splash of reserved pasta water to create a light sauce. Toss to combine, and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Remove from heat, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and serve immediately.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh shrimp and a good-quality dry white wine. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
