Ingredients

Fresh Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed Use fresh for best texture.
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (e.g., cremini or button) Feel free to substitute with other mushrooms.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Add more if you love garlic.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Melt for sautéing.
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by trimming the ends off the green beans and slicing the mushrooms. Mince the garlic and set aside.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Let it bubble gently but avoid letting it brown.
  2. Add the trimmed green beans to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to become tender yet still crisp.
  3. Toss the sliced mushrooms into the skillet and continue to sauté for another 3-4 minutes until the mushrooms have released their moisture and are tender.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Once everything is tender and coated in the buttery garlic sauce, remove from heat and taste. Adjust the seasoning if necessary, and serve hot.

Notes

For perfecting the dish: use fresh green beans for the best texture, experiment with different mushroom types, and keep a close eye on cooking times to avoid mushy beans. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave.
