Ingredients

For the garlic butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened) Use unsalted butter for better control of seasoning.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Adjust according to your preference for garlic flavor.
  • Salt and pepper (to taste) For seasoning the garlic butter.
For the sandwich
  • 2 slices thick bread (sourdough or your choice) Thick-cut bread is recommended for optimal crunch.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend) Mix different types of cheese for a richer flavor profile.
  • Optional toppings (fresh basil, tomato slices, etc.) Customize your sandwich with additional fillings if desired.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and minced garlic until well combined. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on one side of each slice of bread.
Cooking
  1. Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place one slice of bread (butter side down) on the skillet and top with a generous amount of shredded cheese.
  3. Add the second slice of bread on top (butter side up).
  4. Grill the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes, pressing down lightly with a spatula.
  5. When golden brown, carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for about 3-4 minutes or until the bread is crispy and the cheese has melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet, cut in half, and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, choose thick-cut or artisanal bread and cook on medium heat to allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
