Ingredients

Cupcake Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons salt
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cups milk
  • as needed Food coloring (purple, blue, black, and pink)
Decoration Ingredients
  • as needed Buttercream icing For decoration
  • as needed Edible glitter or star-shaped sprinkles Optional for decoration

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and well combined.
  4. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full to allow room for rising.
Baking
  1. Place the cupcakes in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the cupcakes cool completely in the pan.
Decoration
  1. While the cupcakes cool, prepare the buttercream icing. Divide it into separate bowls and dye each portion with food coloring to create vibrant colors.
  2. Once the cupcakes are cool, frost them using a piping bag to create swirls and patterns.
  3. Optionally, sprinkle edible glitter or stars for an added sparkling touch.

Notes

For perfecting galaxy cupcakes, ensure to allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the icing. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days.
