  • 12 slices slices of bread Any kind of sandwich bread can be used.
  • 1 cup chopped turkey or chicken Cooked and shredded.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (e.g., Swiss or cheddar) Choose your favorite cheese.
  • 6 large eggs For the egg mixture.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise Enhances creaminess.
  • 1 teaspoon mustard Adds flavor.
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning.
  • as needed Butter for greasing To prevent sticking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Place half of the bread slices in the bottom of the prepared dish.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the chopped turkey or chicken with shredded cheese and spread it over the bread layer.
  5. Add the remaining bread slices on top of the filling.
  6. Whisk together the eggs, milk, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
  7. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered sandwiches.
  8. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Baking
  1. Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the egg mixture is set.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.

Notes

For best flavor, refrigerate for at least 1 hour before baking. You can substitute proteins as desired. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
