Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter.
- Place half of the bread slices in the bottom of the prepared dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the chopped turkey or chicken with shredded cheese and spread it over the bread layer.
- Add the remaining bread slices on top of the filling.
- Whisk together the eggs, milk, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered sandwiches.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Baking
- Bake uncovered for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the egg mixture is set.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serve warm.
Notes
For best flavor, refrigerate for at least 1 hour before baking. You can substitute proteins as desired. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
