Ingredients
  

Brownie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
Salted Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce store-bought or homemade
  • to taste sea salt flakes for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.
  3. Allow the butter-sugar mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Spread half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish, smoothing it out evenly.
  7. Pour the salted caramel sauce over the brownie layer, spreading it evenly.
  8. Carefully dollop the remaining brownie batter on top of the caramel layer and gently spread it.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan.
  3. Before serving, sprinkle sea salt flakes on top.

Notes

To maintain fudginess, do not overbake. Customize your caramel to your preference and consider adding chopped nuts for crunch.
