Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easier removal.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter until fully liquefied.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Stir until well blended. Add in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- Gradually sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently stir until just combined.
- If using, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey experience.
Baking
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
To enhance the flavor, use high-quality cocoa and do not overbake to maintain that fudgy texture. Brownies can be topped with ice cream or caramel sauce for even more decadence.
