Preparation
- Start by chopping the onion and cabbage. If you're using sausage, cut it into bite-sized pieces.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- If you're adding sausage, place it in the skillet and cook until it's browned on all sides.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, until they start to become translucent.
- Stir in the chopped cabbage and mix well with the onions. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and starts to brown.
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the cabbage is perfectly tender, remove it from the heat and serve it warm.
Notes
Cabbage can be stored in an airtight container for 3-5 days. For freezing, do so before adding any protein and it can last up to three months.
