Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 slices slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, or brioche) For the best texture, use slightly stale bread.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon Feel free to add other spices.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar Optional.
  • Butter for cooking For best results, use unsalted butter.
  • Maple syrup For serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cutting the slices of bread into thick strips (about 1-2 inches wide) to create your sticks.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  3. Take each bread stick and dip it into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated but not overly soaked.
  4. Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter until melted.
  5. Add the coated bread sticks to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. Remove the sticks and serve hot with maple syrup, fresh fruits, or your favorite toppings.

Notes

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For freezing, separate the sticks with parchment paper in an airtight container, and they can be frozen for up to a month.
