  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • - 1 tablespoon butter for cooking
  • #### **For Serving**
  • - 2 tablespoons maple syrup or hot honey
  • - 1 tablespoon powdered sugar optional
  • - 2 slices cheddar or pepper jack cheese optional, for extra flavor

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Large skillet or griddle
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Tongs
  • - Baking sheet (optional, for keeping cooked items warm)

Method

  1. #### **Prepare the Fried Chicken**
  2. In a bowl, mix buttermilk and hot sauce. Add chicken and let marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne.
  4. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F). Transfer to a wire rack to drain.
  7. #### **Prepare the French Toast**
  8. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar.
  9. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter.
  10. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  11. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  12. #### **Assemble the Sandwich**
  13. Place a slice of French toast on a plate.
  14. Add the fried chicken, then drizzle with maple syrup or hot honey.
  15. (Optional) Add a slice of cheddar or pepper jack cheese for extra richness.
  16. Top with another slice of French toast.
  17. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm.
