Preparation
  1. Cut your bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring even distribution.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until thoroughly combined.
  3. Pour the custard mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring every piece is well coated. Gently push down any pieces that may be sticking up.
  4. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for deeper flavor.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the casserole from the fridge.
  2. Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.

  1. Let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve with toppings like maple syrup, fresh berries, or powdered sugar.

Notes

For optimal results, use day-old bread to avoid mushiness. Consider adding chocolate chips or dried fruits for a twist. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
