Preparation
- In a saucepan, pour in the beef broth and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- In another pan, gently heat your sliced roast beef until warm. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- If using onions, add them to the same pan after heating the beef until they’re soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Slice your French bread or rolls in half. Layer your warm roast beef (and onions, if using) on the bottom half, and pile on the Swiss cheese.
- Place the open sandwiches under a broiler for about 1-2 minutes, just until the cheese starts to bubble and turn golden.
- Carefully dip the top half of the sandwich into the simmering beef broth, then place it on top of your cheesy beef. Serve hot with a small bowl of broth on the side for dipping!
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days. Wrap tightly in foil or airtight container. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
