Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional) for topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of self-rising flour and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Mix well, then add in 1 cup of Greek yogurt and stir until you form a dough. If the mixture is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour until manageable.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead gently for 1-2 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope and join the ends to form a circle, pressing them together.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg for the egg wash. Brush the tops of your bagels with the egg wash and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  6. Place the bagels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before enjoying.

Notes

Store bagels in an airtight container for 1-2 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze up to 3 months and reheat in a toaster or oven.
