  1. Prepare your workspace by ensuring the butter is at room temperature.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes until light and fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar into the mixture, beating continuously to avoid mess.
  4. Incorporate the milk and vanilla extract, mixing at low speed until combined, then increase to medium speed and whip until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  5. Taste the frosting and adjust sweetness by adding more powdered sugar if desired.
  6. Spread or pipe frosting onto cakes, cupcakes, or other desserts as desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Reheat slightly in the microwave for 10 seconds at a time or let sit at room temperature before mixing.
