Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prep the crust: If using a store-bought crust, place it in a pie dish. If making from scratch, roll it out and fit it into the dish, pricking the bottom with a fork.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs until well combined.
- Pour in the milk and mix thoroughly.
- Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until everything is well incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Optional: Sprinkle ground nutmeg over the custard.
Baking
- Place the pie in the oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the pie cool before slicing. Serve warm or chilled.
