Main ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk Use Halal-friendly milk
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Be careful not to let it brown—just let it melt until it’s completely liquid.
  2. Add the all-purpose flour to the melted butter, whisking continuously for about 1-2 minutes to create a smooth base for your gravy.
  3. Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Keep whisking until the mixture thickens to a creamy consistency, roughly 3-5 minutes.
  4. Once your gravy has thickened, add salt and pepper to taste. Stir well to incorporate the seasoning.
  5. Enjoy your Easy White Gravy hot over your favorite dishes—whether it’s biscuits, mashed potatoes, or chicken!

Notes

If you want to lighten up your gravy, consider using low-fat milk or almond milk for a variation. Keep a close eye while whisking to avoid lumps. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
