Ingredients
  

Sushi Rice Preparation
  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice Cook according to package instructions.
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar Adds flavor to the rice.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt For seasoning the rice.
Fillings
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp or crab meat (Halal-friendly) Can substitute with chicken or tofu.
  • Sesame seeds for garnish Optional topping.
  • Nori strips for serving For dipping or wrapping.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the sushi rice according to package instructions, fluff it with a fork after cooking.
  2. In a bowl, combine rice vinegar and salt, then gently fold this into the warm sushi rice and let it cool.
  3. Chop avocado and cucumber into small pieces, and cut shrimp or crab meat into bite-sized chunks.
Shaping
  1. Wet your hands to prevent sticking. Take a small handful of rice, flatten it in your palm, and add a teaspoon of avocado, cucumber, and shrimp or crab in the center.
  2. Mold the rice around the filling to shape it into a ball. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Serving
  1. Sprinkle sesame seeds on each sushi ball and serve with nori strips or drizzle with spicy mayonnaise for added flavor.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave briefly without overheating to maintain texture.
