Preparation
- Begin by rinsing 2 cups of rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, stirring until they become fragrant and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of cumin and 1 teaspoon of paprika, stirring continuously for about 1 minute.
- Add the rinsed rice to the pot, stirring to coat it with the spice mixture. Pour in 4 cups of water, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
- Turn off the heat and let the rice sit covered for another 5 minutes. Then, using a fork, fluff the rice gently.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze in portioned containers for up to 3 months.
