For the Patties
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sifted for best results
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
For the Coating
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil Optional for melting chocolate

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, sweetened condensed milk, and peppermint extract. Mix well until a thick, dough-like consistency forms.
  2. Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into small balls. Then, flatten each ball into a disc shape about 1/4 inch thick. Place the patties on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Refrigerate the shaped patties for about 30 minutes to firm them up.
  4. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips with coconut oil, stopping to stir every 15 seconds until fully melted and smooth.
  5. Dip each chilled peppermint patty into the melted chocolate using a fork. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off, then return to the baking sheet.
  6. Chill again in the refrigerator until the chocolate is set. Enjoy your homemade Easy Peppermint Patties!
