Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, melt the butter and mix it with brown sugar until combined. Spread at the bottom of a greased 9-inch round cake pan.
- Layer the sliced fruit evenly over the butter-sugar mixture.
Batter Preparation
- In the same bowl, add granulated sugar, milk, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well blended.
- Sift in flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir until just mixed—do not overmix.
- Carefully pour the batter over the fruit layer in the cake pan.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
Notes
Use ripe fruit for best flavor. Feel free to experiment with different fruit combinations or add spices like cinnamon.
