Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt, and whisk them together until well mixed.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the milk and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay!
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently pat it into a rectangle about 1 inch thick. Fold it over onto itself twice for extra flakiness.
- Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out rounds of dough and place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly before serving with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings!
Notes
Use cold butter for flaky texture. Mix the dough just until combined to avoid tough biscuits. Feel free to experiment by adding cheese, herbs, or jalapeños.
