Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are evenly coated.
- Roll out your pie crust if using homemade; place one crust in a 9-inch pie pan.
Assembling the Pie
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and spread evenly. Dot with pieces of butter.
- Cover with the second crust, trim excess dough, crimp edges, and cut slits for steam to escape.
Baking
- Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
- Reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until apples are tender and crust is golden brown.
Cooling
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. For longer storage, wrap in plastic and foil and freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat individual slices in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes to restore crispness.
