Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Break it apart with a spatula and drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the mixed vegetables, diced tomatoes (with juice), garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well combined.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef mixture and stir gently.
- Transfer half of the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Add a layer of shredded cheese, then top with the remaining mixture and sprinkle more cheese on top.
Baking
- Place the assembly into the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, replace ground beef with ground chicken or turkey, ensuring alternatives are Halal-friendly. To store, allow to cool and refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze before baking for up to three months.
