Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until fluffy—about 3-5 minutes.
- Add in the eggs, buttermilk, lime juice, and tequila. Mix until thoroughly combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
Baking
- Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with the batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- Top each cupcake with a dollop of buttercream frosting and a sprinkle of sea salt for the finishing touch!
Notes
Use good-quality tequila for the best flavor. For an extra punch, add lime zest to the batter.
