Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef (Halal-certified) You can substitute with ground turkey or chicken for lighter options.
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes Includes juice.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your liking.
  • 1 cup beef broth (Halal-certified)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by browning your Halal ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it’s cooked through.
  2. While the beef is cooking, chop the onion and mince the garlic. Drain the beans and set them aside.
Cooking
  1. In the crockpot, combine the cooked beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, drained kidney beans, drained black beans, diced tomatoes (including juice), chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Pour in the beef broth and stir well to mix the ingredients.
  3. Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Serving
  1. When it’s done cooking, taste and adjust the seasonings if necessary.
  2. Serve hot with your choice of toppings such as sour cream, cheddar cheese, or chopped green onions.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth to maintain texture.
