Preparation
- Start by browning your Halal ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until it’s cooked through.
- While the beef is cooking, chop the onion and mince the garlic. Drain the beans and set them aside.
Cooking
- In the crockpot, combine the cooked beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, drained kidney beans, drained black beans, diced tomatoes (including juice), chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the beef broth and stir well to mix the ingredients.
- Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
Serving
- When it’s done cooking, taste and adjust the seasonings if necessary.
- Serve hot with your choice of toppings such as sour cream, cheddar cheese, or chopped green onions.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave, adding a splash of broth to maintain texture.
