  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for smooth blending.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Also at room temperature.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Sifted gradually to prevent clouds.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Preparation
  1. Bring your cream cheese and butter to room temperature.
Mixing
  1. Beat the softened cream cheese and butter together in a large bowl until smooth.
  2. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, while mixing on low speed.
  3. Pour in the vanilla extract and add a pinch of salt, then mix on medium speed until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
Finishing Touches
  1. Taste the frosting and adjust the sweetness or tanginess as desired.
  2. Use the frosting immediately or store in the fridge until needed.

Notes

This frosting stores well in the refrigerator for about one week in an airtight container and can be frozen for up to three months. Thaw in the fridge and re-whip before use.
