Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 3 pieces ripe bananas, mashed The riper the banana, the better!
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust based on sweetness preference
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Ensure it's a halal variant
Dry Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • pinch salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute half with whole wheat flour for added fiber
Mix-Ins
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Make sure they're halal

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the bowl, and mix until incorporated.
  4. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture, then gently fold in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  5. Finally, add in the chocolate chips and fold them into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased 9×5 inch loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Place in the oven and bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For storing, wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil, keeping at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerating for a week. For longer storage, freeze sliced pieces wrapped tightly. To reheat, microwave for 15-20 seconds or warm in a toaster oven.
