Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, softened butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in the rolled oats into the mixture.
- Set aside about 1 cup of the crumb mixture for the topping.
- Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the cherry filling.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool in the baking dish before lifting them out.
- Cut into squares and serve.
