Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 14 oz firm tofu, drained and pressed Make sure your tofu is firm for the best texture.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce You can substitute with tamari for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • sesame seeds (for garnish)

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by draining your tofu and pressing it to remove excess moisture. Slice the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes in a single layer. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
  2. Sauté the tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the pan, cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce and rice vinegar, stirring gently to coat each piece of tofu. Let it simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice or your favorite grain.

Notes

For best texture, press tofu well to remove moisture before cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
