Ingredients
  

For the bowls
  • 2 cups steamed rice (white or brown) Cook according to package instructions
  • 1 pound beef (flank steak, cut into thin strips) Can substitute with sirloin or rib-eye
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For stir-frying
  • 1 bell pepper (any color, sliced) Add more for extra flavor
  • 1 onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for richer flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger (freshly grated)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions and set aside.
  2. Marinate the sliced beef in a bowl with soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper for about 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, stir-frying for about 2-3 minutes until tender but still slightly crisp.
  3. Push the vegetables to the side and add the marinated beef to the center, stir-frying until browned and fully cooked for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Combine the beef and vegetables, cooking for an additional minute to meld the flavors. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  5. Serve the beef and pepper mixture over bowls of steamed rice.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and minced green onions before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef for up to an hour. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.
