Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the beef sirloin thinly against the grain to ensure maximum tenderness. Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, beef broth, and cornstarch. Stir until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
Cooking the Beef
  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until browned and no longer pink.
Adding Garlic and Broccoli
  1. Add the minced garlic and broccoli florets to the skillet, stirring for another 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
Combining and Thickening
  1. Pour in the sauce mixture, stirring well to coat the beef and broccoli. Continue cooking for an additional minute or until the sauce thickens and bubbles.
Finishing Touches
  1. Drizzle with sesame oil and adjust salt and pepper to taste.
Serving
  1. Serve the stir-fry immediately over rice or noodles for a delightful meal.

Notes

For substitutions, chicken breast or tofu works well. Add broccoli later to avoid mushiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for 2 months.
