Preparation
- Cook the lentils according to package instructions until they’re tender but not mushy. Drain any excess water and set aside to cool.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until they are fragrant and the onion is translucent.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked lentils, sautéed onion, and garlic. Add the breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper, then mix until combined. For a smoother texture, mash some of the lentils.
- With clean hands, form the mixture into burger patties, roughly 4-6 depending on the size you prefer.
- In the same skillet, heat a little more oil over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Serve your lentil burgers with your choice of toppings and enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can also freeze uncooked patties for up to 3 months.
