Cake Ingredients
  • 1 box box of cake mix (any flavor) Choose your favorite cake mix flavor.
  • 3 pieces eggs Eggs should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup water Use as instructed on cake mix box.
  • 1/3 cup oil Vegetable oil is recommended.
Frosting and Coating
  • 1 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade) Any flavor frosting works.
  • 8 ounces chocolate coating (milk or dark chocolate) Melt before dipping.
  • 1 cup sprinkles Optional for decoration.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for your cake mix.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and oil, mixing until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake as instructed until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Let the cake cool completely.
Making Cake Balls
  1. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl using your hands, making sure there are no large chunks.
  2. Add the frosting to the crumbled cake and mix well until every crumb is coated.
  3. Using your hands, roll the mixture into small balls or egg shapes, about 1 inch in diameter.
  4. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Freeze the cake balls for about 30 minutes until they firm up.
Coating and Finishing
  1. Melt the chocolate coating in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler.
  2. Dip each chilled cake ball into the melted chocolate, letting excess chocolate drip off.
  3. Place the coated cake balls back on the parchment paper.
  4. Sprinkle colorful decorations on top while the chocolate is still wet.
  5. Allow the chocolate to fully set before enjoying.

Notes

Store the cake balls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. They can also be frozen for longer storage. Let them sit at room temperature before enjoying again.
