Ingredients
  

For the Cake
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix Any brand will work.
  • 3 large eggs Room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup water Use as instructed on the cake mix box.
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil Can be substituted with melted butter.
For the Filling
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened (8 oz) Make sure it’s at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • 1 container whipped topping (12 oz) Like Cool Whip.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Adjust for sweetness preference.
For the Topping
  • 1 package Oreos, crushed (about 24 cookies) Crush finely for best appearance.
  • to taste Gummy worms Use as many as you like for decoration.

Method
 

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch casserole dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  3. Pour the cake batter into the prepared casserole dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
Filling and Assembly
  1. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and mix until well combined. Fold in the whipped topping until creamy.
  2. Once the cake is cool, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake.
  3. Sprinkle crushed Oreos generously over the cream cheese layer.
  4. Place gummy worms on top for decoration. Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Can freeze layers separately for a month.
