  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed Gives cookies a rich flavor.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for best results.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar, then add the softened butter. Beat together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until the dough comes together.
  5. Scoop out dough using a tablespoon and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  3. Decorate with icing or sprinkles as desired once cooled.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze for up to three months in a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in a warm oven until soft.
