  • 1 large head cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Preparation
  1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces and set it aside.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat along with the diced onion and minced garlic until cooked through. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In the slow cooker, layer the chopped cabbage, followed by the cooked meat mixture. Then add the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Cooking
  1. Stir the mixture gently to combine, then cover and cook on low for about 4-6 hours or until the cabbage is tender.
Serving
  1. Once done, give it a gentle stir and serve hot! Top with herbs or sour cream if desired.

Notes

For a variation, substitute quinoa for the rice or add chopped bell peppers for added flavor and nutrition. Remember to brown the meat for enhanced flavor, and avoid overcooking the cabbage for the best texture.
