Ingredients

For the Cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use 2 sticks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Cream until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Using a spoon or cookie scoop, portion the batter onto the baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
  2. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are firm but the centers remain soft.
  3. Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Use high-quality chocolate for better flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
