Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Cream until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Baking
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, portion the batter onto the baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are firm but the centers remain soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Use high-quality chocolate for better flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
