Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it rest for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and dried herbs.
- Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- In another bowl, mix the shredded cheese into the risen dough, kneading it gently to distribute the cheese evenly throughout.
- Place the dough onto a floured surface, shape it into a loaf, and place it into a greased baking pan.
- Cover the loaf and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and enjoy!
Notes
For perfect bread, allow adequate rising time and avoid adding too much flour when kneading. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, warm in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes.
