Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Stir gently and sprinkle the yeast over the top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and Italian herbs. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough to release air. Knead in the shredded cheese. Shape the dough into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls.
- Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy warm!
