Ingredients

For the dough and filling
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup diced strawberries
For frosting
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a larger mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour and salt to the wet mixture to form a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm area until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
  5. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese and diced strawberries. Set aside.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread the cream cheese mixture on top, and roll it tightly. Slice into individual rolls.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for 30 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. While the rolls bake, whisk together powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Drizzle frosting over warm rolls and enjoy!

Notes

To ensure your rolls turn out perfectly every time, use fresh strawberries for the best flavor and make sure your cream cheese is softened. Allow the dough to rise fully for optimal fluffiness.
