Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients using a spatula, being careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chopped dates and walnuts until evenly distributed.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  2. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
