Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's softened for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2-3 jalapeños, diced Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
For Wrapping and Frying
  • 10 pieces egg roll wrappers
  • as needed oil for frying About 2 inches in depth for frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients. Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing. Dice the jalapeños, removing the seeds if you want to tone down the heat.
  2. In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with shredded cheddar cheese, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined, and don’t be afraid to taste and adjust the seasoning!
Wrapping
  1. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface, with one corner facing you. Place a generous tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center. Fold the corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll tightly to seal. Use a dab of water to seal the edges.
Frying
  1. In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium-high heat. To check if it’s ready, drop a small piece of an egg roll wrapper in; it should sizzle upon contact.
  2. Carefully place 2-3 egg rolls in the oil at a time, frying for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Flip them halfway through for even cooking.
  3. Once fried to perfection, take the egg rolls out and drain them on paper towels. Serve them hot, alongside your favorite dipping sauce, and enjoy!

Notes

Customize your filling by adding diced bell peppers or cooked chicken. Keep a close eye on your oil temperature for perfect frying. Prepare the filling ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to wrap and fry.
