Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 4 medium medium potatoes Peeled and quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For coating
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying Enough to cover the bottom of the frying pan

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into quarters. Place them in a pot of salted water and boil for about 15 minutes or until tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool slightly. In a bowl, mash the potatoes until smooth. Mix in the minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Combine thoroughly.
  3. Take spoonfuls of the potato mixture and form small balls or patties (whatever you prefer!). Roll them in the breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
Cooking
  1. In a frying pan, heat enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan over medium heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, carefully place a few potato pops in the pan. Fry until each side is golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Serving
  1. Enjoy your Crunchy Garlic Potato Pops fresh out of the pan, or keep them warm in an oven while you cook the rest!

Notes

For a halal-friendly option, use a bit of flour mixed with water as a binding agent. Ensure oil is hot enough for frying to avoid soggy pops. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze for longer storage.
