  • 6 large croissants Halal-compliant
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk Can be substituted with almond or oat milk.
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • to taste Maple syrup (for serving)
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for serving)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
Mixing Custard
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them lightly.
  2. Add the whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to the eggs, then whisk until thoroughly combined.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Pour the custard mixture over the croissant pieces in the baking dish.
  2. Gently press down with a spatula to ensure all croissant pieces are soaked.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Let it cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

This dish can be prepared in advance and baked fresh in the morning. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
